Day 16: Something Common that People Overlook

Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves with the pleasures of our own pain.

We tell ourselves that we deserve the hurt,

So we continue to blame,

and knock down,

and tie

ourselves to the weights of our mistakes and misfortunes.

But stop.

Stop telling yourself that you deserve to suffer.

Stop telling yourself that happiness is a mere, idealistic fallacy

worth speeding by in a blur

as you sit pitiably on the sidelines of your own dreams.

Stand up

and chase it.

Even when your breathless, because

our minds become the breaths that we take.

Inhaling the sorrow,

the anger,

the frustration,

the disappointment...

the fear, confusion, misunderstandings, and lost souls…

Eventually our bodies try to feed from this.

That which will teach us the individual lessons that every circumstance possesses.

So allow it to do such.

We let go,

or at least we are intended to…

to overcome the pain,

and release it

to allow the atmosphere to steal it away

and swallow it.

Exhale the suffering that we try so hard to choke on.

& when that’s gone,

our lungs will expand, once again,

and lift our deflated bodies and overwhelmed minds back to functionality.

So even when you feel as though you’re drowning,

keep breathing,

keep moving,

and keep fighting.

…because you’ll be surprised by how well you can swim.
